AUTO SPIES: Mazda Miata to get retractable convertible roof?
This is exactly the kind of thing I feared coming from the competition with the Solstice. Don't do it, Mazda. Don't do it! Don't give in to the needs of the common American, just keep building sports cars. Beat them at your game; not by adling your soul by incontinently adding these frills.

From March of 2005, in my post Competing with the Miata:

Everyone... wants to compete with the Miata these days. I'm all for it! Competition is good for the consumer, so long as Mazda stays true and doesn't begin including kitchen sinks in their roadster.
