I am not entirely convinced the writer is actually a "she." Their is something qualitatively male in the style. If I could put my finger on it, I would. But, I am relatively sure it's a dude writing it.

Yep, the creator of girlsarepretty.com is Robert "Bob" Powers -- short bio at Robert Powers Bio. He's, also, the music critic (scroll to middle of page for Robert's listing) for g21.net. The final revelation came on The Morning News - The Lonely Days. Scrolling to the bottom of that page:

Bob Powers is a writer and performer living in New York City. He is the creator of girlsarepretty.com and will be reading at the Red Room above KGB on September 17 at 8 p.m.
Reading "The Lonely Days," it is easy to see the writing style, syntax, mechanisms, etc. are the same between the two sites.
