So, I am a male aged 18-25. Fitting this little criterion (as several others I know do), I am the target of marketers everywhere. I adopt technology as early as possible. I have an unnatural craving for anything that runs on electrons. If someone has a gadget I do not have, I suddenly feel the urge to possess it. I spit, drool, and become stupified when presented with stupid cars that go stupid fast. I like video games. I am susceptible to advertisements and content with sexual overtones (blatant or otherwise). Gabe, over at the excellent comic strip Penny Arcade, put it best in his entry Nokia to gamers (scroll to the bottom to see it):
Dear Mr. Nokia, my name is Gabe. You might know me better as a member of the lucrative 18-25 year old male demographic. That’s right, I am a 24 year old early adopter with disposable income just burning a hole in my pocket and a thirst for the latest technological gadgets.
So, what exactly happens when I emerge from this age-window? I know my car insurance goes down. But, do I suddenly lose all of these generic, generalized, stereotypical attributes. In several senses (one of which being the "common" one), I certainly hope so. But, really, what happens at 25 (or, 26)? Chuckie, you're a lot closer than I am, have you noticed any changes? Or, maybe it has to do with the fact that most males have given in to having one kind of breakfast cereal.... err... I mean, have been lucky enough to engage in holy matrimony thus freeing themselves from these sick desires by that age. If that's the case, gnubbs, have you stopped purchasing insanely expensive audio equipment yet?
I wonder what it is going to be like suddenly being alleviated of all of this targeted advertising?

A lot closer? 4 months and 10 days? I think you may be onto something with your cereal theory. Most of the guys I know who're single and 25+ still fit the profile, and all of the 22 year-old guys I work with who only eat Cheerios are begging their wives to let them get a new [TV|car|stereo|bike]. It's the wives, not the number.
Hey, it's 4 months and 11 days.
I have stopped purchasing insanely expensive audio equipment. But, for some reason I think that has something to do with moving to a city where you have to make 145k to be considered lower middle clss (able to buy a home is the criteria to make you lower middle class apparently...) However, I have made up for it by buying stupid expensive outdoor gear. Still cheaper though...
