I am mere minutes away from performing the complete dismantling of my computer systems -- one WinXP, one FreeBSD, and one Debian; KVM switch; cable modem; router for the entire house's Internet; switch coming off of router for my b0X3n; 5 piece Creative Labs speakers. At that point, I will have no Internet at my home base for several days. These are the dark times...

But, there is one bright side to all of this.

My ISP is Cox Communications. I called them a couple days ago and told them I was moving.

"Where are you moving, sir?"

I give them my address.

"Would you like to retain your current services -- digital cable and high speed Internet?"

"Yes."

"Okay, do you feel confident in hooking up the equipment yourself?"

"Yes."

"When do you need the service stopped at your current residence and started in your new?"

"June 1st."

"Okay, thank you, and have a nice day."

"Wait!"

"Yes, sir?"

"What about the Internet?"

"What about it?"

"Well, do you need to send someone out to fiddle with the lines or send signals and stuff to and from the cable modem?"

"No."

"You mean, that's it? I give you my new address, a date, hook up the cable modem, and *boom* I have Internet?"

"Yes."

"You guys are awesome!"

Cox is on top of stuff. With all of the other bill companies, there has been some kind of hassle. But, the call to Cox honestly took les than 5 minutes. That's good service.

Okay, my trembling hand is reaching for the power button as we speak....
